Start Here!
Welcome to the blog!
I’m so glad you’re here. If you’re reading this at a time that you are looking for some hope, Im extra glad you’re here. I am a mental Health Therapist and I have spent a lot of time with people who are desperate for hope in their lives. I’ve been desperate for hope at times as well.
I heard someone once say that suffering is the great equalizer. Our day time lives may look very different from each other but in the middle of the night as we stifle our cries and bury our faces in tear stained pillows, we are all the same. There is something about the silence of the night that brings our troubles to the forefront of our minds. We can’t distance ourselves from the things that hurt us in the stillness of the darkness and we are more desperate than ever to find relief. I’ve had so many nights searching for anything that might make me feel better while secretly wishing someone could give me a hug and tell me it was going to be okay.
As I’ve grown as a therapist, I’ve learned that so many of us have had nights like this, that is what inspired me to start this blog. In the solitude of night, when your heartache is raw, I want you to feel that you have a lifeline here in these posts. My hope is that you can find hope, support, and a little guidance on what might be the next right thing for you to do. I will share wisdom, rooted in psychology, that I share with my clients everyday. I will also give you a peek into my own life as I share what has helped me through tough times.
Years ago, I heard about a mom who wrote her daughter a huge series of letters before she died of cancer. This way, when her daughter needed her throughout her life, she could experience a small piece of her mom. Letters are a beautiful way to have someone with you even when they aren’t physically there. I have been comforted many times by messages written to me, they have helped me feel less alone on some of my darkest nights. Those moments of comfort that I have felt sparked my idea of naming this blog “2am Letters”.
Whenever you are feeling lost, broken, and not sure what to do I hope these letters can help you feel that you have a companion with you. Whether you are fighting through the silence of another night or you are trying to keep it together in the business of the day, I pray that these nuggets of wisdom and experience can comfort you or comfort a friend who could use some hope today.
